Basildon Battery Energy Storage System

In partnership with ESM Power Ltd, Proactive Security Services Ltd was engaged to deliver a fully compliant and robust CCTV and site lighting solution for the new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility in Basildon, Essex.

As BESS facilities are critical infrastructure in the UK’s renewable energy and power grid resilience strategy, security was a key requirement from the outset.

• Design a compliant and reliable CCTV system tailored to the layout and operational needs of the site.

• Supply and install security cameras and lighting solutions aligned with safety, compliance, and 24/7 monitoring capability.

• Commission and test the system to ensure seamless performance and full operational readiness.

• Ensure the solution complies with BS 8418 and other relevant SSAIB security standards.

Scope of Work

1. Site Survey & System Design
Proactive conducted a detailed site assessment to develop a tailored CCTV and lighting design, ensuring maximum visibility and coverage of key operational and perimeter areas.

2. Equipment Supply
High-performance, bi-spectrum CCTV cameras, providing thermal night capability and VCA (Video Content Analysis) detection and remote monitoring via a CAT2 ARC (Alarm receiving Centre) .

3. Installation
The Proactive team managed all installation works, coordinating with ESM Power’s project schedule and adhering to strict health & safety protocols during site works.

4. Commissioning & Handover
Once installed, the system was fully tested, commissioned, and integrated with remote access functionality. All documentation, user training, and compliance reports were handed over to the client upon project completion.
